About problems during development, changes in the game and future updates
In this post, I decided to tell you about the problems I encountered while developing the game, about changes in the game and the future "Winter" update
1. Problems in development
1.1. Let's start with the problem with the music or why it can't be configured.
There is little music in the game and it is constantly repeated, so the question immediately arose about adding a function to regulate the overall sound in the game, music and sounds. Initially, I planned to make only a music slider, since I added sounds in the game at the very end. So why can't you tune the music and everything related to it? All because of the slider, which was supposed to change the volume of the sound. When you click on the "Settings" button, the game did not respond to anything, only pressing Alt + F4 helped in this case. Therefore, it was decided to remove it for a while and replace it with a sign that is temporarily not configurable, but perhaps everything will get better soon and this function will become available.
1.2. Translation problem
In my opinion, this problem is the most secretive and difficult. I did the translation of texts through a Google translator and like, um... well, you understand. Perhaps some, let's call them "linguistic moments", were translated with errors, perhaps translated correctly, but now have a completely different meaning. And after all, it will not be possible to check it in any way. Even now I am not sure of the correctness of the translation, but I will hope that everything is OK. I was able to correct some mistakes, I have basic knowledge of English, but maybe I missed something, that's why it's difficult.
1.3. Design problems
The most minor but annoying problem in the game. Something is out of place, something is shifted, something is missing, and something on the contrary is superfluous. It really pissed me off. Although it was solved in 2 clicks, but it could be repeated on several levels at once. Somewhere I didn't catch up, I started copying the design, realized that something was wrong and started to fix it. And so from time to time...
1.4. Problems in the code
As for me, these are the most intractable problems. I had such a problem with the music slider. Either I messed up somewhere, or the program didn't understand what I wanted from it. Another of these was the problem that when you pressed the pause button, and then the exit button, you did not exit the level because it did not work, due to the fact that the code blocks were incorrectly set. And there were a lot of such bugs, more than a hundred.
2. Possible changes in the game
2.1. Changing levels 00-15
Why exactly these levels? It seems to me that everything is very clear here. Firstly, these levels are the most unprocessed and the most unsuitable in the game. When the development of the game first began, it implied such a principle of levels in it, no mazes were thought of, even what you see at levels 21-44. Initially, this game was not conceived as an ordinary and similar platformer. I was thinking of doing something different, but alas, it didn't work out.With each new level that I created, I ran out of ideas in their passage, and what I wanted to do was make each level unique in its own way, different from the previous one. It didn't work out.
Therefore, it is more likely that these levels will be transformed in the design and will become similar to levels 21-36.
2.2. Changes on the Settings screen
I will try to add the function of tuning music and sounds, and I will also add Ukrainian and Belarusian languages, and in the future, possibly others
2.3. Changes on the "Level Selection" screen
Perhaps the number of levels will be reduced in the future.
2.3.1. Changing levels 16-19
These levels may be combined
2.3.2. Changing levels 38-44
These levels will definitely be combined into one. Even now, if you die on one of these levels, you move to 38 and pass them again
2.4. Secret Code
Now it can be entered on the "Level Selection" screen, but after updating it will need to be entered on the main menu screen
2.5. Changing music
New music is already being written and the old one is being improved. Perhaps the game will have a music change function.
3. A little bit about the "Winter" update
So far, I have a plan to add 16 new levels to the game, change the design of the entire game to winter and much more. But you will see all this already when the update is released.
